Promothean ActivBoard

http://www.procomputing.com/pdfs/research/Research.pdf

Impact on learning in the classroom:
- average improvement of 17%, and when used 75-80% of time increase was 29%
- improvement in math and science
- girls benefit more than boys, but both had positive attainment
What I learned:
- for special ed students there was an increase in student management, fine motor skill development, classroom participation, focused time on task, on time assignment completion, student collaboration, behavior, and attendence
- ELL students also had significant increase in reading and math
Question:
- What about the children who need additional services for mobility, etc that can have a hard time reaching the board?  Are there interactive tablets available?

  1. These are alot of good facts. I find it quite interesting that in special ed classes the use of Interactive Boards improve class management. Though I wonder why would it be that girls benefit higher than boys? Could it be that girls are more prone to participate than boys or would their be another reason. Also, I remember seeing interactive tables which would be helpful for students with limited mobility. The question is then are they made available in classes with students who have limited mobility and if not how can we push for them to be available for those students.

  2. To answer your question "What about the children who need additional services for mobility, etc that can have a hard time reaching the board?", many Active Board are actually adjustable. This allows the shorter students to still be able to reach the board. That why the Active Board is superior to the Smart Board in many ways.
